The City of Ocala has established new hours for the Fort King National Historic Landmark effective today, October 1, 2014.
In an effort to better serve the needs of visitors who have provided input on the hours since the park first opened at the end of May, the City is expanding the hours for access to the park. Most of the feedback we received, indicated that people want to be able to come out to the park to walk the trails, have a picnic, etc. even when the Heritage Center is not open. While the City is receptive to the expanded hours, which basically mirrors hours that other parks in the City are open, staff cautions that there are no public restrooms available at the site when the Heritage Center is not open.
The Heritage Center at the park is open on Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
The park itself is open from sunrise to 7 p.m. or sunset (whichever comes first).
